Researchers active in different disciplines presented <strong>47 talks and 13 posters<\/strong>. The research topics covered trunk loads, postures and motions (imaging, sensors, and video camera), tissue mechanical tolerance, biological responses to mechanical load, failure and pain generation, measurements and model studies in sports, occupational and daily living tasks, with a focus on the lumbar and thoracic regions of spine.<\/p>\n<p>It has increasingly become evident that the key to further success in providing the most effective personalized care for patients suffering from spinal disorders lies in intensified cross communications and collaborations across disciplines; in other words as elegantly phrased by late Alf Nachemson, by inter-discipline migrations.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong class=\"\">3rd Special Issue of the Journal of Biomechanics<\/strong> including 32 original articles is now available online.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/workshop.spine-biomechanics.com\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/03\/SI_Cover-online.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"  rel=\"lightbox[123] noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1672\" src=\"https:\/\/workshop.spine-biomechanics.com\/2019\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/03\/SI_Cover-online.jpg\" alt=\"Journal of Biomechanics, SI: Spine Loading and Deformation\" width=\"117\" height=\"157\"><\/a><strong>Journal of Biomechanics,<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/journal\/journal-of-biomechanics\/vol\/102\/suppl\/C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>SI: Spine Loading and Deformation<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nVolume 102, (26 March 2020)<br \/>\nEdited by Aboulfazl Shirazi-Adl, Hendrik Schmidt, Idsart Kingma<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The papers presented in this special issue cover vast areas of spine biomechanics; from the disc and motion segment sub-component levels to the trunk neuro-musculoskeletal level including passive and active tissues. These works encompass imaging, in vivo, in vitro and modeling techniques.
